New
Rules Now in Place
Rob Spit
(26-11-07)
The start of the new season sees Sportsworld Peakhurst continue to
introduce rules to challenge and invigorate the sport played in
heaven indoors. Those that have played at the sister centre in
Sutherland will be familiar with most of the changes which are as
follows:
Power Play
-
This replaces the ‘double up’ overs that
occurred in the 4th, 8th, 12th
and 16th overs
-
There are still 4 power play overs but the
fielding captain can choose when to take them
-
Maximum of 2 power plays per batting pair
-
Field restrictions (i.e. maximum 4 players per
half) are lifted
-
Scoring is the same as double up overs (i.e.
net scoring shots are doubled, wickets are worth -7, wides & no
balls score 4 runs)
Capt. Hammer’s
thoughts… “I get to swing my arm around when it’s on. Might need a
trumpet so the team know as well”
Re-bowling Wides & No Balls
-
Wides and no balls can be re-bowled at the
batsman’s discretion last ball of the 4th, 8th,
12th overs and the entire 16th over
Capt. Hammer’s
thoughts…”This could make or break a skin. I like!”
Free Hit
-
Any no ball (off the pitch, above waist height,
front foot etc) will effect a free hit next delivery
-
During a free hit, you cannot be bowled, caught
or stumped
-
If 2 or more consecutive no-balls are bowled,
only the next ball will be a free hit
-
Free hits carry over to the next over but not
to another batting pair (why would it, when it can be re-bowled)
Capt. Hammer’s
thoughts…”Not sure about this one. I have concerns about the welfare
of front court fielders. Let’s hope the batsmen don’t shut their
eyes and swing!”

Bueller...
Bueller... Bueller...
Brian Costelloe (21-11-07)
This whole Movember
nonsense has been catching on. But it's for a great cause so most of
us will let the porno mo's and handlebars slide while the money for
prostate cancer and Beyond Blue roll in. Blackout's very own MOn
capitain, Rob Spit, has been very enthusiastic and with strange
results! We never ever pictured it before but Rob's mo now has
transformed him into the hapless, relentless principle from that
classic 80's movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Ed Rooney was his name
(the character that is) and being compared to a DVD freeze frame the
vote was anonymous... he's a dead ringer!
On a serious note if you
would like to contribute to this great cause then
click here and sponsor Rob by
entering his registration number (105174). It'll help relieve the
pain of being victimised by High School students everywhere!

Blackout
Through to Semi's
Brian Costelloe (10-11-07)
A very up and down
season. Both on the pitch with many straight wins followed by many
straight losses and also off the pitch with the site being somewhat
neglected (sorry guys!) after a great make over. Well now Blackout
has the chance to make this a memorable season as we are in the
Semi's for this Tuesday's match up against Stumped. Full match
report (I promise!) to follow with photo's.
