Full Squad Announced For Season Opener

Brian Costelloe (26-2-07)

After ending the Summer 2006-07 season in a dubious fashion having been disqualified for fielding non qualified players (Chris & Waqas) in last week's Finals, Blackout now look to Winter 2007 as being the turn around season. With fresh new blood in the side we now hope to take on the opposition with new vigour!

Blackout have had a tough time with players with Rob and Richo AWOL in Tibet or some place else. Also some of the regular players have been hard to track down while this has been happening. Loges will be out now for half a year so that's another pair of shoes we'll need to fill. But we've been negotiating with Chris and Waqas to slog it out again for the Black. Col returns next week (hopefully) and the captain and Richo will be due back soon too.

Here's to a big Winter 2007. Let's hope it's big on W's!

Big Response to Hooter Pics!

Brian Costelloe (8-2-07)

It's no surprise to see these photos do so well on my Flickr site. Already Rashid's pic with the two beauties from Hooters Parramatta has shot up to the 5th most viewed photo in my collection. Plus there's no slowing down as the numbers keep going up. Sportsworld were wrapped up in Hooter-mania too and took some shots. Click below to check 'em out on the Flickr site!

By the way... I ended up going to Hooters the next day and boys I gotta tell ya. It was fantastic! The food is huge and tastes great but the waitresses are out of this world. Do yourself a favour and get yourself to Parra!

Blackout triumphant over new guys

Brian Costelloe (8-2-07)

Although they are new to the comp you couldn't tell by the way they were fielding. United Boys were all over the fielding with great run outs, catches and a great spirit on the court. We managed a hard fought 104 runs with highlights being a fantastic 22 runs from Tim showing form once again with the bat with a six to boot and yours truly smacking a much needed 6 to undo a brilliant run out by the United Boys.

But once Blackout turned to the field it was pretty obvious that these United Boys were in trouble. Sad too as I was looking forward to a tightly fought game as they promised to deliver the goods with their fielding performance. They managed only 10 runs a pair except for the last pair grabbing a spirited 22 runs. Some brilliant fielding was shown up the back including a direct hit run out from the back net to the keepers in by Tim! Ryan also showed great agility up the back with many run out attempts and an awesome display to take out a one handed catch despite 2 other Blackout guys surrounding him. Overall we managed to grab all four skins largely thanks to some vicious bowling by everyone. Particularly Mark nabbing 2 bowled out wickets in the precious final over to secure the fourth skin.

Grumpy Old Hooters

Brian Costelloe (7-2-07)

Just when you thought that Indoor Cricket was getting a little dull and boring something like this comes along and.. well... spices things up! Grumpy Old Men, long time rival of Blackout, have gone and nabbed what many are considering to be the sponsorship deal of the century. Grumpy Old Men shall be renaming themselves Hooters after a deal was struck with newly formed Australian franchise, Hooters (Parramatta). In what was the most flamboyant sponsorship display to date they had two stunning models come and dance to start off the match and have photographs taken during the match. Once again another "why didn't we think of that?" moment!

Oh... and Grumpy's... I mean Hooters won!

Blackout Lose 1st Place

Brian Costelloe (2-2-07)

Not much to report except that last round's match resulted in a loss. The outcome of that is that now Grumpy Old Men are above us on the ladder and that we are in 3rd place now. Wow! How the mighty have fallen! Shows how close this comp is again.

Just a quick reminder to all players to check with Sportsworld that your player registration is up to date. Apparently a couple of our players are expired rego wise. Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday again and don't forget to update the Google Calender with your availability. If you have trouble doing so then just email (brian@blackouthouse.com) me with your response.
